Review: The Verbals – Communications Down

I first became aware of The Verbals a few years ago when a local record label (Super Sick Records) had a feature in the local paper. I was so amazed that North Devon had a record label I wanted to find out who they were promoting and The Verbals were the first band I checked out.

Communications Down is an excellent introduction to this punky/indie trio.  ‘Radio’ is a perfect start to an EP, the high energy riffs and energetic vocals make it a huge feel good track and I couldn’t stop tapping my feet and wishing I was in the front row of a gig with them.

The Verbals really show off their musicality with ‘Paper Hearts’ along with their sensitivity without ever losing their knack for a great riff.

What really stands out about The Verbals is huge catchy riffs, great songs and a band who have a bright future.
