Review – J.J. Leone – Silver Lining

Fresh from being named as BBC Introducing Record of the Week J.J. Leone is preparing for the release of his latest single ‘Silver Lining’ on May 25th 2018.

The opening strums of the guitar feel immediately like an intimate performance with a singer-songwriter and then the beat starts and you realise there’s more to J.J. Leone than first appears.

In Silver Lining J.J. delivers a silky smooth vocal, reminiscent of Craig David at his soulful best. Musically, you are treated to a mix of acoustic guitar with a beat that showcases how versatile a musician he is, performing all parts himself including an appropriate guitar solo that never feels forced or pretentious.

I would describe J.J. Leone as moving on from a period of singer – songwriters being bound to a guitar and really showcasing what can be achieved for a solo artist.

You can see J.J. Leone live on the 26th May at Notting Hill Arts Club, London.
