Review: BlackWaters – Pick Me Up

About

Indie-Punk from Guildford, this is BlackWaters (Max, Oliver, David and James). Pick Me Up is the latest single from their new EP ‘People Street’ released today.

The band have had a really promising build up to the release of their EP with radio play from major stations including Radio 1 and Radio X as well as landing support slots with The Libertines amongst others and playing Download, Reading & Leeds.

What they say

A collection of five songs that capture the spirit of social observation, control, desire and love, People Street mixes intense instrumentals with jarring and witty lyricisms all packaged in BlackWaters’ own brand of post-millennial punk rock.

Vacant Ceremony Verdict

Pick Me Up doesn’t just grab you, it assaults you. It’s one of the most exciting new releases from a British punk band I’ve heard for as long as I can remember. There is so much energy, I wish I could bottle it for Monday mornings. There is more going on than classic punk but that attitude is so strong, it reminds me of the first time hearing Slaves. The performance is explosive and still crams in a chorus you can shout along with.
